When talking confidently, our facial features play a crucial role, especially the shape of our teeth. We all have heard about the traditional method of aligning and shaping teeth through braces. But have you heard of Invisalign treatment? Invisalign moves teeth by applying a controlled force to different parts of your teeth during different parts of your treatment. Simply put, only specific teeth can move with each new set of aligners you wear. This is a much more controlled and less painful way of aligning your teeth than metal braces. You must think your teeth are beautiful the way they are, so you would want to avoid aligning them or correcting their shape. Well, good looks are not the only reason for this treatment. If your teeth overlap, food could get stuck in them for a long time, which can cause cavities. So book your first dental appointment, get to know your teeth better, and take advice from the best Orthodontist in Mohali

Invisalign treatment begins with taking x-rays and photographs for diagnostic purposes, then capturing the patient’s bite, teeth, and gums via a bite registration, polyvinyl siloxane impressions, or an intra-oral digital scanner. The latter method has dramatically increased in popularity recently as digital scanning technology has improved. The dentist/orthodontist completes a written evaluation with a diagnosis and treatment plan. Dental impressions are scanned to create a digital 3D representation of the teeth. Technicians move the teeth to the desired location with the program Treat, which makes the stages between the current and desired tooth positions. During the first set of aligners, anywhere from six to eighty aligners may be needed. Each aligner moves teeth .25 to .33 millimeters. Additional and subsequent rounds of aligners, known as “Refinements,” may be necessary to achieve desired tooth positions, as clear aligners do not consistently achieve entire movement in the first round. Each aligner is intended to be worn an optimal 22 hours a day for one to two weeks. On average, the treatment process takes 13.5 months, although treatment time varies based on the complexity of the planned teeth movements. The aligner is removed for brushing, flossing, and eating. As clear aligners are made from plastic, they can be warped by hot liquids. While undergoing treatment, one should limit one’s intake of hot liquids to protect the shape of the aligners and prevent them from becoming stained. Once the treatment period has concluded, the patient is advised to continue wearing a retainer at night for the foreseeable future.
